Chapters & Verses from The Holy Quran with Description in original Arabic text, followed by English translation: Chapter Al-Fatiha (الفاتحة) - The Opening بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ In the name of Allah (The God, literal in word and meaning), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ Master of the Day of Judgment. إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ Guide us on the Straight Path, صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray. Description: Surah Al-Fatiha, also known as “The Opening,” is the first chapter of the Quran and holds a special place in Islamic prayer and daily life. It is a profound supplication to Allah, acknowledging His attributes of mercy and guidance. Surah Al-Ikhlas (الإخلاص) - Sincerity قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌۭ Say, “He is Allah, [Who is] One, ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ Allah, the Eternal Refuge. لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ He neither begets nor is born, وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۭ Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” Description: Surah Al-Ikhlas is a concise declaration of the Oneness of Allah, emphasizing His uniqueness and absolute sovereignty. It is a powerful affirmation of monotheism, emphasizing that Allah is indivisible, eternal, and incomparable. This Surah beautifully encapsulates the essence of Islamic faith. Surah Al-Nas (النَّاس) - Mankind قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ The Sovereign of mankind, إِلَـٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ The God of mankind, مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ Who whispers evil into the breasts of mankind, مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ From among the jinn and mankind.” Description: Surah Al-Nas is a supplication seeking refuge in Allah from the evil of external influences and internal doubts. It acknowledges the vulnerabilities of human nature and implores protection from negative forces, both from among humans and jinn. Surah Al-Falaq (الفَلَق) - The Daybreak قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ From the evil of that which He created, وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ And from the evil of darkness when it settles, وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّـٰثَـٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ And from the evil of the blowers in knots, وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ And from the evil of an envier when he envies.” Description: Surah Al-Falaq is a supplication seeking protection from various forms of harm that can occur during the day and night. It acknowledges the vulnerability of humans to negative influences and seeks refuge in Allah from these harms.
