Lullaby (Mangalica version) Once upon a time there was a Mangalica, a little one. It had a curly coat so yellow as gold, so that it was in Hungarian "Aranka" called. One night it said "I cannot sleep, my straw is too hard my pillow too deep". It would not listen to its mother the big golden pig. It would not listen to the lullaby weep. Instead it yawned and looked up to the sky: It was silent and dark. But then it heard a cry: An owl so little and golden as itself sat on a tree as on the owner's shelf. They talked and laughed the whole dark night. It felt so good, it felt so right, but the owl it left with the first rays of light. And the little Mangalica was left alone. But do not fear, it had gained a gift: The owl had shown how to be as you are, how to master the night, how to await patiently a new day - the light. And in the end the Mangalica slept. But it could not tell if it dreamt or met its dear dear friend... Mangalicapoet T.A., 21 February 2023
